Imagine a weekend where tradition meets modern entertainment, where you can run alongside celebrities, groove to live music, and immerse yourself in Malaysia’s vibrant heritage. That’s exactly what the Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival 2025 promises to deliver!
Taking place on April 12th and 13th, 2025, at The Landing @ KL Base in Sungai Besi, announced at an elegant press conference held at Grotto Hall @ Confetti KL, this two-day extravaganza is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of community spirit, cultural pride, and the countdown to the highly anticipated horror mystery film Kulit Wayang.

The Kulit Wayang Cultural Festival 2025, organized by EMT Ventures Sdn Bhd, redefines movie promotions by transforming a traditional press launch into a large-scale public celebration. As Penny Chan, EMT Ventures Director, emphasized, “We want to create excitement and buzz by making this event accessible to everyone, not just industry insiders.” With support from FINAS and MOTAC, the festival seamlessly blends cultural engagement, fitness, and entertainment into a unique experience.
The festival will showcase Malaysia’s rich heritage through traditional performances like Gamelan music, Dikir Barat singing, and dances such as Inang and Zapin. Families can enjoy interactive workshops where they’ll learn batik painting and wau-making, while kids (and adults!) can test their skills at classic games like Congkak and Batu Seremban.
A highlight will be the Wayang Kulit (shadow play) performances, featuring actors Fattah Amin, Pekin Ibrahim, Indonesian actress Reynavenzka Retno Ayu, and rising star Jennaira Kamaratih Jiwa blending storytelling with cultural nostalgia.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dain Said (Dukun, Bunohan), Kulit Wayang is a horror mystery inspired by Malaysia’s traditional shadow puppetry art. Set in the 1980s, the story follows a puppet master’s quest for answers after his daughter’s death, weaving together cultural secrets and suspense. Catch it in cinemas on May 1st, 2025, in Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei.
On April 12th, the Malika Music Festival will electrify the stage with a star-studded lineup. Headlining acts include Fattah Amin, Malaysia’s beloved actor-singer with millions of social media followers; Nidji, Indonesia’s iconic pop band; and local favorites Bunkface and OAG, known for their high-energy performances, and rock bands Krusty, Steeltoe Solutions & Conflict Crisis.
Whether you’re a fan of pop, rock, or indie music, this festival promises a night of unforgettable melodies. Tickets for general admission start at RM 99, with VIP passes available for RM 159 for the ultimate concert experience.

Fitness enthusiasts and casual runners alike can join the “Run with the Artists” event, a first-of-its-kind fun run where participants can race alongside the stars of Kulit Wayang. Choose between a 3KM Fun Run (RM 41) or 10KM (RM 49) route, with entry including access to the festival. Imagine the thrill of crossing the finish line alongside your favorite celebrities!
The festival will take place at The Hangar Stage, featuring a massive 40ft LED screen for performances and screenings. Over 100 vendors will showcase local crafts, while food stalls will serve iconic dishes like Nasi Lemak and Satay. Families can also participate in drawing and art contests organized in collaboration with the Malaysia Education Department.
With an expected turnout of 13,000 attendees, including 5,000 fun runners, the festival promises to be a highlight of 2025.
